OBJECTIVE
As an emerging Halal hub port, Northport has gained wide recognition on its dutiful efforts in developing the Halal industry.
Northport Halal initiative objectives include:
To become the enabler of end-to-end logistics services of integrated Halal value chain,
To support government’s initiatives in turning Malaysia into a major Halal hub in the world,
To facilitate and support exportation of Malaysian Halal products,
To become the centre of global Halal distribution network, and
To attract foreign direct investment related to manufacturing of Halal products.
The aim to establish Malaysia as a global Halal hub isn’t a new concern. The government
has been working on this effort for several years now. Halal trade is being recognized
as a new benchmark to ensure safety and quality of products.
As the only Malaysian port having the Halal certified warehouse facility, Northport
(Malaysia) Berhad offers a vital link in the transport and logistics chain for Halal
products’ manufacturers and producers. The country’s move into the global Halal market
is supported with the facilities at Northport, allowing distribution to global destination
that reach out to almost 2 billion Muslim consumers worldwide.
The global Halal market is burgeoning as Halal consumables are gaining worldwide
recognition. This is not merely because of the growing number of Muslims around the
world, but simply because Halal food is highly sought after by people from diverse
races and religions who look for traceable, hygienic and healthy food.
Working closely with logistics services providers and the relevant government bodies,
Northport contributes to the supply chain of the Halal trade by ensuring efficiency
in the delivery system. A port plays critical role to facilitate Halal trade that
not only allow timely transportation of goods but also cost effective and provide
a wider range of services to meet the requirements of the Halal trade.
